About Volunteer Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows
Volunteer Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows is a support network for coordinators of volunteers to discuss and collaborate on issues related to volunteerism.
Purpose: Through networking and collaboration, Volunteer Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows will develop and foster volunteerism in our communities, and work together towards the realization of a community volunteer centre for the citizens of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows
Vision: As a result of the collaboration and efforts of Volunteer Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows, our communities have a strong volunteer base and consistent standards of practice among the various non-profit societies, government bodies, and the school district. Citizens are meaningfully engaged, feel connected to their community and have a strong sense of well-being.
Objectives:
- To promote and advocate volunteerism
- To build capacity for effective local volunteering
- To provide leadership on issues relating to volunteerism
- To build positive relationships with community agencies, local businesses, and other volunteer centres
- To connect people with volunteer opportunities
- To act as a central resource centre of information about volunteering and non-profit management
- To encourage consistent standards of practice in safety, recruitment, screening, appreciation, and recognition of volunteers
- To identify the need for volunteers in the community
- To provide training and technical assistance
- To improve efficiency where agencies are doubling up on services (e.g. "recreating the wheel")
Membership: Volunteer Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows is open to all non-profit organizations, social service agencies, community groups, sports groups, and special event groups serving Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
